My old church has started up it's Music at Noon concerts on Wednesdays again, except now virtually. Which does mean that everyone else gets to hear them. (Also means if you can't watch Wednesday at noon, you can watch later which is nice.)

This week is a flute and guitar duo doing really lovely arrangements of Christmas Carols.

If you enjoy it, you can subscribe to the channel which should get you all the Wednesday concerts and any other concerts as well. (Also note: while this one is Christmas themed and it is operated out of a church, many of the concerts are entirely secular music, mostly classical and jazz.)

I keep meaning to post something and then getting distracted. So here is a bunch of random stuff.

John Sparr Tavern has officially spoiled me for most other French Onion Soup. I got some somewhere else while I was up in Seattle and it wasn't /bad/, but it mostly just made me want John Sparr's. (They have a steam kettle so they really do cook the stock for at least a day, if not longer. And they season it beautifully and it's got lots of onions and the perfect melty cheese and bread on top and it's probably the biggest reason why my family is there so often.) As a note, their bisques and their chowders are also really good Fridays' soup of the date rotates through New England clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder, and lobster or crab bisque. I'm told they do really good cocktails as well.

I'm sad that I didn't find out about #colorourcollections until the last day, but if you happen to see this while they're still up, http://library.nyam.org/colorourcollections/ has free downloadable coloring books from more than 100 museums. (But they may only be available through 2/8. Still it might be good to keep an eye out for next year if you like coloring pages.)

I like the new Southwest planes better than the older ones, they at least feel like they have slightly more space (which is not what I expect from new planes). Also, the seatbelts are about an inch or two longer which is the crucial difference in length between 'I need to ask for a seatbelt extension or *really squish*' and 'yeah, this is no problem and latches fine without much wrangling.' I also kind of like that they split the 'place to stick airplane documents like safety instructions and beverage list' and 'place for you to stick your stuff you want at hand and not under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin'. It makes it a lot easier to see if I've forgotten something in there.

Friday Tea has a collection for awesome Rock gods who are sadly missed, now. I've only had Purple from the collection, but it was wonderful and really was very purple and glittery with the luster dust and given the mixes for the other two, I suspect they are also great.

I know there was other stuff I'd meant to chatter on about, but I can't think what it was, now, so I think we're ending here. (Also I would really, REALLY, like for this cold to be gone, now. So much sinus congestion.)

Felt the earthquake, but it wasn't that bad at my house. Rattling, but I don't think anything fell and I haven't seen any cracks. (Was more the rolling-rumbly kind than the hard shaking kind.)

So Wyrding studios is one of my favorite jewelry sites. (I have a number of other favorites, but I'm focusing on Wyrding Studios today because it's their anniversary and they're having a drawing.)

In particularly, she wanted us to talk about one particular piece we really like.

So I chose this one. I keep going back and looking at it. At the shimmer in the central stone and the little faceted purple beads around the edge. And I'm not going to buy it. (I have enough other necklaces in that color palette and I don't really have the money for it and I don't /neeeeed/ it.) But, oh, is it pretty and I do keep going and looking at it and then talking myself out of buying it. I mean look at that rainbow shine across the face of the labradorite.

Anyway, I've loved all the necklaces I've gotten from her. Highly recommended.
So, I'm leaving very early tomorrow to go hang out on a boat for three days over by Catalina. I will have no internet. I might or might not have cel service; it's apparently somewhat spotty.

Don't burn down the internet while I'm away. I'll be missing it enough as it is. Also, don't expect responses from me until at least friday and more likely saturday.

Not yet sure what I'm going to be doing with this journal other than read my friends over here. Mostly this is just a placeholder while I think about it.
